About the Role
The Assistant Operations Manager plays a critical support role in ensuring the daily success of our local College HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving franchise. This position works closely with the Operations Manager to execute day-to-day operations, develop team members, uphold brand standards, and deliver an exceptional customer experience. The Assistant Operations Manager serves as a hands-on leader, problem-solver, and culture champion within the operation.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Execution & Support
· Support the execution and continuous improvement of operational systems and processes to drive efficiency, consistency, and service excellence.
· Assist with daily dispatching, scheduling, and coordination of moving and junk removal crews.
· Conduct customer welcome and confirmation calls and assist with day-of-service issue resolution.
· Help investigate, document, and resolve customer concerns and damage claims in a timely and professional manner.
· Participate in truck, equipment, and facility check-in/check-out procedures to ensure readiness and accountability.
· Monitor and input daily operational metrics and performance data.
· Support end-of-day closing procedures and ensure operational compliance with safety and legal standards.
· Assist with ordering, inventory management, and organization of office, truck, and marketing supplies.
· Reinforce punctuality, safety, professionalism, and adherence to brand standards.
People Leadership & Team Development
· Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new team members.
· Coach and support team members in sales behaviors, customer service, safety practices, and job performance.
· Provide real-time feedback and reinforcement to crew leaders and team members in the field.
· Help foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance team culture.
· Identify and encourage leadership development opportunities within the team.
· Model College HUNKS core values, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Marketing, Sales & Partnerships
· Support local marketing initiatives and brand visibility efforts.
· Assist in building and maintaining relationships with local referral partners and community organizations.
· Participate in networking events, community outreach, and professional associations (e.g., NAPO, NASMM).
· Help coach and support team members involved in sales, reviews, and promotional activities.
· Reinforce consistent customer follow-up and reputation management practices.
Financial & Strategic Support
· Assist the Operations Manager in monitoring daily and weekly performance against budget and goals.
· Help review key reports (including P&L, KPIs, and scorecards) and identify trends or opportunities for improvement.
· Support the implementation of scalable systems, tools, and best practices to support business growth.
· Provide feedback and recommendations to leadership based on frontline operational insights.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2–3 years of leadership experience in operations, logistics, or a service-based industry (moving/junk removal experience a plus!)
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
- College degree preferred but not required
